Question What's so special about the royal wedding?
I've been hearing about it on the news and on Twitter. I'm not extremely into celebrity gossip but I'm curious as to why this seems so big? I know it's a wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, but what makes them & their wedding so big?
Best Answer He's second in line to the throne. It is possible some day she will become queen. Any children they may have will likely become the king or queen of England some day. He carries on a tradition of the monarchy for those nations which are still in the Commonwealth and are not republics. She'll presumably be making trips to various places, opening hospitals, having ships named after her, etc. Her children might become the official head of state for various countries and have their pictures on the back of their money. Kate will also become a princess. This being the ultimate fantasy of many young (and not so young) girls fed by fairy tales, Disney films, romance novels, etc. It's a big, lavish wedding ceremony with lots no expenses spared -- palace guards, horses, carriages, massive churches, dresses costing a small fortune, thousands of people cheering them, etc. Again, feeding into wedding fantasies. Many people remember the wedding of William's father and mother and her death. For those following William, folks are normally happy that he's happy and a nostalgia over his parents wedding.

Question Do you think Prince William gets nervous when he's photographed by paps in his car?
I've seen some pictures of him and Kate Middleton coming back from clubs where the paps did a close up of them in a car. William seems to look nervous or stiff a lot of the times when photographed. Do you think it's nerves because he may worry in that situation knowing his mom probably died in car crash due to ambitious paps chasing her?
Best Answer I doubt he fears for his life, you have to remember Diana was being driven by a drunk French man and didn't have royal protection, whereas William is surrounded by trained bodyguards. He's also often driven by bodyguards who have undergone extensive driving courses learning driving techniques in how to escape terrorists and what not. Just to give you an idea of how well he's looked after, one night he came across a car crash and told his drivers to stop and let him and his bodyguards (all trained in first aid) to help but his guards said no because it could have been a ploy to trick them into stopping so someone could get to him, so they instead called in for help. I do however think the paps irritate him badly as they would anyone and I think he probably detests erratic driving by paps to try and get a picture.

Question Can the press justify the pressure on Prince William's girlfriend?
There is no doubt that the paparazzi are making life hell for Kate Middleton as the longstanding girl friend of Prince William. Can they justify it? It is certainly of public interest. Can the same ends not be met by public statements, and the release of photographs? How would you compare the press coverage of Rosie West - conspirator in mass murder - and Kate Middleton, girlfriend of a Royal?
Best Answer I guess it's about supply and demand. If there is a demand for pictures of Kate Middleton then there will be a supply. I also think it's the plight of the modern royal - possible princesses work, go out and lead pretty normal lives making it all very easy for the pressmen. Remember, Diana worked at a nursery or something so was out and about driving to work etc. In the 50's I think young 'ladeeez' of a certain class were known as debutantes and they certainly didn't work, just went to balls etc looking for titled husbands. Ironically enough, it's probably those who love the royals that snap up any magazine or newspaper that has a picture of one on the front. Perhaps in people started publicly boycotting mags that displayed photos of a hassled Kate, the hassling would stop. I can't comment on comparisons with Rose West, I wouldn't have thought there were any - did Rose shop at Jigsaw?

Question Is Kate Middleton's wedding ring the same as the blue engagement ring?
I know that Kate Middleton's engagement ring was the blue ring Diana, Princess of Wales had. Is that also her wedding ring? In most of the pictures she's wearing a silver band. I didn't know if the blue ring was put up somewhere or if she still wore it.
Best Answer You must not have watched the Royal Wedding, because Kate wasn't wearing the Blue Sapphire that day so that she could easily wear and give prominence to the wedding band that like other Royals before her was made from a special nugget of gold. Additional info: If you go to the following website you can see if looking carefully at many pictures of the Duchess wearing both the Sapphire engagement ring & the gold wedding band together on her left hand when the Royal couple visited Canada this past June/July 2011... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2010322/Kate-Middleton-Prince-Williams-royal-tour-Canada-Day-2011-red-hot.html (interesting note... William did not want a wedding band)
